PRIVACY
BirdiePot Privacy Policy — version of 2 October 2026. It covers the BirdiePot app for iPhone and Apple Watch and the birdiepot.ch website.
David Alvarez, Route de Base 81, 1258 Perly, Switzerland. Contact: support@birdiepot.ch.
BirdiePot requires no account, shows no advertising, sells no data and does not track you across apps or websites. Your rounds stay on your device, except what you choose to share.
Player names, pots and rules, scores, scorecards, courses, history and settings are stored on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Exports (PDF, CSV, Excel, .birdiepot backup) are only created and shared when you ask.
If you share a pot, its data (player names, scores, amounts, chat messages, proposed rounds, dates and availability) is stored in iCloud by Apple (CloudKit) and visible to invited participants. We have no access to this data. To tell you about a change (for example “Round moved”), the app uses Apple notifications, only if you allowed them. You can leave or delete a shared pot in the app.
With your permission, and only while the app is in use, BirdiePot uses your location to suggest nearby courses and, during a round shown on screen, to calculate distances to the green (front, centre, back) on iPhone and Apple Watch. These calculations happen on the device. Your location is not stored as a history and is not sent to our servers.
To obtain green maps, the app queries the public OpenStreetMap servers (Overpass, in Germany and the European Union) with the course coordinates or, if they are unknown, your current location. These servers also receive your device’s IP address. The maps received are kept on your iPhone.
Course search and the satellite view use Apple Maps (Apple). Course details may be completed by OpenGolfAPI (name of the course searched) and by GolfCourseAPI through our server api.birdiepot.ch. Green data comes from OpenStreetMap © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the ODbL licence.
When you save a course, the app sends its name, pars, hole handicaps and Slope/Course Rating per tee to api.birdiepot.ch so other golfers can benefit. No player name or score is sent. This information is public on birdiepot.ch.
If you post a course review, we store your name, email, text and date. Only your first name and last-name initial are published, after moderation; your email never is. A fingerprint of your IP address is used to limit abuse. If you write to us, we only use your message to reply.
The full-version purchase is handled by Apple (App Store). We receive no payment data.
Our website and server are hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland. iCloud, Apple Maps and notifications are provided by Apple; OpenStreetMap/Overpass and GolfCourseAPI may process data outside Switzerland under their own policies.
App data: until you delete it or the app (exports remain yours). Website reviews: while published; you can ask at any time for your email or review to be deleted. Messages: as long as needed to reply. Server technical logs: as set by Infomaniak (a few weeks).
The website uses no advertising or analytics cookies. Only the publisher’s private administration area uses a technical session cookie.
You may request access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to processing or request portability by writing to support@birdiepot.ch. You may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), the CNIL (France) or the AEPD (Spain).
Any change will be published on this page with its date.
